Condor Book Tours Presents Good Night Captain Mama

FinalCoverArtGNCM

We are thrilled to be supporting the children’s book Good Night Captain Mama written by Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, illustrated by Linda Lens.

Besides being the only book currently available on the market (or soon to be) depicting a Latina mamá in U.S. military uniform, this book is also the product of partnerships between half a dozen Latina entrepreneurs, as well as an exercise in independent, environmentally conscious publishing.

Listen in to this interview with author Graciela Tiscareño-Sato to learn a little bit more about this remarkable project:

Update: Audio updated 4/22/13

This is a Pre-Order tour! Buy the book now and save between $5-$7 off the price when it is officially released mid-summer. Pre-ordering helps the small, independently run, Latina publishing company to print in the USA, distribute in an  environmentally sustainable fashion and get enough momentum going for a larger initial print run, which means the ability to get it into more hands.

EXTRA!

This is a giveaway tour, anyone who “Salutes” a woman they know serving in the military in the comments of this post will be entered to win an autographed and dedicated copy of the book, to be received by the 4th of July! Furthermore, all pre-orders of two or more books will receive this amazing patch, just like the patches found on a flight suit as a thank you gift!

About the Book:

Good Night Captain Mama written by Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, illustrated by Linda Lens
Publisher: Gracefully Global Group, LLC.

Good Night Captain Mama is a bilingual picture book of approximately 850 words, created for children between the ages of three and eight. The main character is a young boy in pajamas. As he passes by his mother’s bedroom, he sees her in her olive-green Air Force-issued flight suit. The child is curious about the colorful patches on the uniform and asks questions as he pulls each one off. His mother’s answers teach him, and young children everywhere, why women serve in uniform too.

Sales of this book benefit Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE), a training program operated by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, whose mission is to educate and mentor veteran women through entrepreneurship to pursue self-employment as a post-service career.
